Confections, tea, and coffee

Tanabe has many historical Japanese and Western-style confectioneries that use local ingredients. There are many delicious confections that make the most of each shop’s unique characteristics, like the mochi rice cakes favored by Minakata Kumagusu who had a connection to Tanabe, monaka wafers filled with yuzu bean jam, cakes and Japanese confections with unique wrappers, and manju bean jam-filled buns made in the image of Tokei Shrine. How about finding the treat you love the most?
There are also cafes serving tea and coffee to go with the famous confections.
